Seodaemun-gu, Free Safety Management Service for Semi-basement House Fire and Flood Preparedness
Recruiting First 42 Households by the 29th of This Month Using Smart Sensor Home Network Technology
Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 14th that it will expand the provision of smart safety management services to semi-basement households this year.
This service integrates 'smart sensor home network technology' to enable real-time remote monitoring and response during various disasters such as fire, flooding, and carbon monoxide occurrence in semi-basement homes through in-home voice guidance and automatic text message sending.
The district installs sensors and communication equipment in homes free of charge and also manages them. The sensors operate wirelessly and are battery-powered, making installation and management easy. Residents only need to cover the electricity costs for the gateway and communication equipment. Since the service began in November last year, it has proven effective by preventing a total of five fires so far.
This year, the installation scale is 42 households, and residents who wish to apply will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the 29th of this month. For applicants exceeding this number, additional supplementary budgets will be secured to install the service in the second half of the year.

Owners or residents of semi-basement homes who want to apply for the service can call the Smart Information Division of Seodaemun-gu Office. Last year, the district implemented this service for 300 semi-basement households in the area for the first time nationwide and received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award.
