Gyeonggawon Holds Relay 'Policy Workshop' to Realize AI-Centered Gyeonggi-do
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency will hold an artificial intelligence (AI) policy workshop four times.
On the 14th, the agency announced that following the AI policy workshop held on the 13th, hosted by the Innovation Growth Research Group to foster the AI industry in line with the technological innovation triggered by the emergence of OpenAI's Chat GPT, it will continue to hold the workshop every Wednesday for four sessions.
The first AI policy workshop, held on the 13th at the Startup Lounge in Pangyo Techno Valley Startup Campus, featured An Seong-won, head of the AI Policy Research Office at the Software Policy Research Institute, as the lecturer on the theme "Changes and Future Prospects Due to Generative AI."
The subsequent discussion focused on topics such as ▲strengthening and disseminating AI technology ▲training AI personnel ▲relaxing AI policies and regulations ▲and enhancing international cooperation.
The agency plans to reflect the contents presented and the discussion results from the workshop in future AI policy research and project planning.
Kang Seong-cheon, head of the agency, emphasized, "In the future, the spread and utilization of AI technology will determine the competitiveness of nations and companies," adding, "The agency will do its best to discover and implement new policies so that AI can transform companies, industries, society, and the lives of residents, aiming to realize ‘AI+Gyeonggi.’"

This year, the agency aims to train 1,000 AI personnel and discover 50 innovative AI-related companies. Additionally, it will launch an AI alliance in May, involving the private and public sectors, including Gyeonggi-do, 31 cities and counties, and companies.
