US Georgia Court Dismisses Some Charges Against Trump in 'Election Overturn' Case
The Georgia state court in the United States dismissed some charges against former President Donald Trump, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and other members of the election task force on the 13th (local time) related to the attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
The dismissed charges include six counts such as coercing public officials to select pro-Trump electors. However, 41 charges including violations of the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act, forgery, and extortion remain valid.
Former President Trump has been criminally indicted four times on 91 charges. This is the first time any charges have been dismissed.
Trump's legal team stated, "We welcome the dismissal news and hope that this will lead to the dismissal of the remaining charges as well."
