Trump Proposed Musk to Buy 'Truth Social' Last Year
Former U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly proposed to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, last year to purchase his social media platform 'Truth Social,' according to the Washington Post (WP) on the 12th (local time).
According to the WP report citing multiple sources, Trump and Musk are also said to have exchanged opinions on politics and business in general. The outlet stated, "Although the deal did not materialize, former President Trump and CEO Musk had been communicating long before it became public knowledge."
Former President Trump is also known to have met with Musk and other major donors on the 3rd. In an interview with CNBC the previous day, Trump acknowledged meeting with Musk and others to raise campaign funds, saying, "I helped him when I was president."
Trump is reportedly hoping that Musk will speak at the Republican National Convention in July. However, Musk recently stated that he will not financially support any candidate.
