Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, Visits the Newly Transformed Hongdae Red Road Site
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the Hongdae Red Road section from R1 to R2 on the afternoon of the 12th to check the progress of infrastructure improvement works, which are heralding a new beginning.
Since last year, Mapo District has been demolishing old facilities in the R1 to R2 section and creating a multipurpose open space for tourists. Additionally, a busking zone is being newly established where local artists can freely showcase their talents.
Furthermore, public restrooms, which were insufficient compared to the number of visitors to Hongdae Red Road, will be additionally installed to enhance convenience for residents and tourists.

After inspecting the construction site, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, said, “We are accelerating environmental improvements so that residents and tourists visiting Hongdae Red Road can create good memories,” and added, “Mapo District will do its best to ensure that Hongdae Red Road becomes a world-class cultural and tourist attraction.” He also urged, “Please be careful to prevent any safety accidents during the construction process.”
