Gyeonggi Office of Education Promotes 9 Major Projects to Strengthen Educational Welfare
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is implementing nine major projects to strengthen educational welfare, including increasing support funds for educational activities, integrated support for uniforms for new middle and high school students, operation of limited-license student shuttle buses, and prevention of academic dropout.
To support vulnerable students, the Office of Education will ▲strengthen the operation of the educational welfare safety net ▲increase the number of educational welfare officers by 14 ▲establish a customized integrated support system for students ▲increase the educational activity support fund (education benefit voucher) by an average of 11.1% compared to the previous year.
Additionally, to support students' school life, 400,000 KRW per new middle and high school student will be provided for uniform support (an increase of 100,000 KRW from the previous year). The uniform quality inspection project will expand its target schools from 50 to 100 to enhance the reliability of uniform quality.
Earlier, starting from the 4th, the Office of Education began operating limited-license student shuttle buses for 18 middle and high schools in the Unjeong area of Paju, the first such operation among education offices nationwide.

View original imageIn addition, the Office of Education will fully support the rental operation costs of school transportation vehicles, expand investment in responsive areas, assist with school rental contract processes, produce and distribute operation manuals, and replace vehicles with eco-friendly electric cars.
Furthermore, to provide various alternative education opportunities both inside and outside schools, the Office will operate focused support schools for preventing academic dropout within schools, run 687 alternative classrooms within schools, and increase support funds by 900 million KRW for alternative education institutions registered with the Office for out-of-school students.

Um Sin-ok, Director of the Educational Welfare Division at the Office of Education, stated, "We will support all students, including vulnerable groups and out-of-school youth, to have healthy growth plates and move toward the future," adding, "We will strengthen educational welfare projects to create a precise and robust educational welfare safety net."
