Busan Haeundae Office of Education Holds Appointment Ceremony for School Violence Countermeasures Deliberation Committee
Appointment of 49 Review Committee Members on the 8th
Training to Enhance Practical Competence
Busan Haeundae Office of Education (Superintendent Won Mi-kyung) appointed the ‘3rd School Violence Countermeasure Deliberation Committee Members’ on the morning of the 8th and began fair handling of school violence cases.
The School Violence Countermeasure Deliberation Committee consists of 49 members who were strictly selected from teachers and parents with extensive experience in student guidance and school violence specialized organizations, as well as experts recommended by the Busan Bar Association and the local police station in their respective fields.
They will review school violence cases requested from the field and notify the results of the measures taken, among other roles.
Following the appointment ceremony, the Haeundae Office of Education also conducted training for the committee members. This was to enhance the expertise of the members considering the recent trend of a continuous increase in the annual number of School Violence Countermeasure Deliberation Committee meetings.
At the training, a lawyer from the Haeundae Office of Education’s School Violence Response Team lectured on major revisions to laws related to school violence, the role of the committee, and the deliberation procedures.
In particular, the training focused on practical capacity building by covering important points to note during the deliberation and resolution process, such as recent case law-centered Q&A, witness statements, and decision-making on measures.
