Kakao Opens Special Page for the 22nd National Assembly Election Following Daum
Kakao's Daum CIC announced on the 11th that it has opened a special page for the 22nd National Assembly election (hereinafter referred to as the general election), which will be held on the 10th of next month, on the portal Daum.
The special page for the general election features tabs for 'Media Special' and 'Opinion Polls,' providing users with diverse information and offering media outlets user engagement opportunities. Users can view various special election-related content, including interactive news prepared independently by each media company, all in one place.
Under the 'News' tab, users can find a variety of in-depth news related to the general election. This includes in-depth planning articles from media outlets, articles on pledges and policies of each political party, reports reflecting public sentiment on the ground, and collections of fact-check articles.
To provide localized news, collections of articles by region from local media outlets have also been prepared. In February, Daum invited local media companies to apply for participation in the special election page to reflect the voices of local media and deliver differentiated election information to users. Thirty media companies applied and confirmed full participation, enabling the delivery of in-depth news on regional issues to voters and candidates.
From the early voting day on the 5th until election day, the page will shift to a real-time information-focused page, providing information such as vote counting rates, vote shares, and battleground status. On mobile Daum, a separate ‘Election’ tab will be opened for users who want to quickly and easily check election-related information.
Various election information is also provided on Daum Search and KakaoMap. When searching for election-related keywords on the Daum portal, users can check candidates by region and party, vote counting rates, and more. On KakaoMap, users can find locations of early voting stations and polling stations on election day.
Efforts to prevent the spread of false information and unfair election coverage are also being strengthened. Banners such as 'Report False Information and Defamatory Posts,' 'Report Misinformation and Rights Infringement,' 'Collection of Unfair Articles,' and 'Correction, Rebuttal, and Follow-up Reports' will be posted throughout the Daum portal. Additionally, in user participation spaces, self-regulation campaigns and penalty provisions will be clearly stated, and Daum Channel Studio, used by Daum partners, will conduct campaigns requesting caution when creating content.
