Ulsan City and KOTRA Launch Support Project for Overseas Standards and Certification Acquisition This Year
Support for Technology Independence and Export Expansion of Small and Medium Enterprises
Ulsan City and the KOTRA Ulsan Support Group are promoting the '2024 Overseas Standards and Certification Acquisition Support Project.' The two organizations are recruiting companies to apply by the 22nd.
This project is being promoted to help local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) achieve technological independence and explore new overseas markets in response to the rapidly changing trade environment, such as the implementation of protectionist trade systems by country.
The support includes covering 90% of the costs for acquiring 533 overseas standards and certifications related to national, international, and social value management (ESG) necessary for export and overseas distribution.
Even if a standard or certification is not included in the 533 listed, support is possible if it is essential for export and distribution.
The eligible applicants are SMEs located in Ulsan according to their business registration certificates. The support method involves selecting about 10 local SMEs and providing up to 8 million KRW per company for acquiring up to two standards or certifications.
Companies wishing to apply should submit their applications through the Ulsan Trade Support System by the 22nd. For more details, refer to the Ulsan Trade Support System and the KOTRA Trade and Investment 24 notices.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “Various protectionist trade systems are being implemented worldwide to protect domestic industries, raising export entry barriers for local SMEs. We plan to actively support the costs required for acquiring overseas standards and certifications to revitalize Ulsan’s local economy and increase technological independence and exports of local SMEs.”
