New 'Hope and Dream Scholarship' for low-income and at-risk students established
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will accept scholarship applications from the 18th of this month until the 12th of next month to foster local talent and enhance educational welfare.
Through this support, the city will provide a total of 763.6 million KRW to 979 recipients. Scholarship applicants must be students who have registered their address in Yongin City and have lived there for more than two years.
The support funds are divided into scholarships and educational expenses.
First, the scholarships include 14 categories: ▲ Admission Scholarship (university entrants) ▲ Excellence Scholarship (high-achieving middle, high school, and university students) ▲ Skill Scholarship (students with outstanding awards in elementary, middle, high school, and university) ▲ Filial Piety Scholarship (students recognized for filial deeds) ▲ Self-Reliance Scholarship (low-income university students) ▲ Hometown Scholarship (university students from families residing in Yongin City for over 30 years) ▲ Rainbow Scholarship (multicultural families) ▲ Gomduri Scholarship (students with disabilities) ▲ Veterans Scholarship (descendants of independence activists) ▲ Azalea Scholarship (four-year scholarship for top CSAT scorers) ▲ Housing Scholarship (students residing in university cooperative dormitories) ▲ Supporters Scholarship (foundation promotion supporters) ▲ Hope Scholarship (low-income high school students) ▲ Dream Scholarship (students in urgent need of support at all levels).
Among these, the 'Hope Scholarship,' which selects low-income high school students as scholars and supports them until graduation, and the 'Dream Scholarship,' which assists students managed by Yongin City's Dream Start program who require urgent support, were newly established this year.
In the educational expenses category, 30.6 million KRW will be provided to 102 middle school students from low-income, multi-child families.
