The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will support the installation of fire extinguishers and residential fire alarms in 700 aging households, including semi-basement homes, this year.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced that following the 100% installation of residential fire safety equipment in 319,209 vulnerable households in the Gyeonggi area last October, this year they will provide free installation of fire extinguishers and residential fire alarms in 30,700 households, including semi-basement homes, multicultural families, and aging apartments.

Among 2,345 fires where fire extinguishers were used, 19 deaths occurred, whereas in 9,065 fires without fire extinguishers or where they were not used, 209 deaths were recorded.
Additionally, it was noted that in 589 fires where residential fire alarms operated, 9 deaths occurred, compared to 53 deaths in 2,576 fires where fire alarms were absent or did not operate.
Jo Sunho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, emphasized, "Installing fire alarms that quickly detect and alert fire outbreaks and fire extinguishers for early fire suppression is crucial for protecting the precious lives of myself and my family. If these are not installed in detached houses, multi-family houses, or row houses, please hurry to install them now."
