It plans to address current social issues such as the sharp decline in school-age population due to low birth rates and the risk of regional extinction by attracting outstanding foreign students.
To revitalize the attraction of foreign students, domestic and international organizations, industries, and local governments will participate as special members, carrying out activities based on major projects such as ▲joint production of Korean language education content ▲joint attraction of foreign students ▲joint training ▲joint research ▲shared network usage.
Kim Young-do, President of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology and the inaugural chairman of the council, stated, “All non-metropolitan areas are facing the risk of regional extinction. This is a result of the decrease in the youth population due to low birth rates.” He added, “The way to solve this crisis is to attract overseas youth who will become healthy members of our society. Through vocational education, we aim to cultivate manpower needed in industries by equipping them with Korean language, Korean culture, and skills.”
