Yeosu City Receives 'Presidential Citation' in Disaster Response Safety Korea Training
Selected as an Excellent Disaster Response Agency for 2 Consecutive Years
Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do announced that it received the Presidential Citation in the evaluation of the ‘2023 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill,’ marking its selection as an excellent institution for two consecutive years following the Minister of the Interior and Safety Citation in 2022.
The ‘Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill’ is a large-scale national comprehensive drill aimed at establishing a nationwide all-out disaster response system. It is a large-scale nationwide drill jointly participated in by the central government, local governments, public institutions, and citizens to prepare for major disasters.
This drill evaluation was conducted targeting 335 local governments and public institutions nationwide, and as a result, Yeosu City was honored to be named among 12 excellent institutions and received the final Presidential Citation.
In May of last year, the city successfully conducted on-site training for fire suppression, rescue, and recovery and cleanup, assuming a scenario of ‘hazardous chemical leakage due to fire and explosion at Yeosu National Industrial Complex,’ with the participation of about 300 people including 13 related organizations such as Jeollanam-do, 8 companies including GS Caltex, 3 hospitals, industrial complex officials, and citizens.
Accordingly, Yeosu City received excellent evaluations in all areas, including training planning and design, training execution, evaluation and feedback, across 20 evaluation indicators, demonstrating response capabilities through an excellent collaborative system, high participation, and conducting unannounced drills.
In particular, the city was highly evaluated for faithfully carrying out the integrated linkage training, which is the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s training policy, through discussion and on-site training responding to actual disaster situations.
