Choo Mi-ae: "Hanam Gap Strategic Nomination Means Leading Exemplarily"
"Hanam, a Strategic Hub"
"Meaning to Lead with a Plan for Rapid Growth"
Former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae said on the 8th that her strategic nomination as the Democratic Party candidate for Gyeonggi Hanam Gap district means "an experienced politician is expected to lead by example." On the 1st, the Democratic Party's Strategic Nomination Management Committee strategically nominated former Minister Choo for Hanam Gap.
Appearing on KBS Radio's 'Jeon Jong-cheol's Jeonggyeok Sisa' that day, former Minister Choo said, "Gyeonggi Hanam is a key point connecting the north and south of Gyeonggi Province and adjacent to Seoul. I believe it means to defend it so that the wind of the prosecutorial dictatorship regime can be ignited." She added, "I think it means that an experienced politician who can plan rapid growth together with Seoul is expected to lead by example."
There are voices saying that the Democratic Party has become 'Lee Jae-myung's party.' Regarding this, former Minister Choo drew a line, saying, "That is not true." She said, "The reason why (Representative Lee Jae-myung's) voice represents the party is because 77% of our party members voted. It makes no sense to say it is anyone's party now. The Democratic Party moves as a public party and through a system. Aren't there many people who have long supported Representative Lee but failed to be nominated this time?"
Local Democratic Party preliminary candidates are opposing former Minister Choo's nomination. They even held a head-shaving protest, calling it a parachute nomination. Also, members and supporters of the People Power Party created a 'local resident vs. migratory bird' framework and launched a relay certification campaign against migratory candidates on SNS after former Minister Choo was selected as a candidate. Regarding this, former Minister Choo said, "The National Assembly is a constitutional institution where local residents elect representatives as citizens. Moving between various parties and lacking political conviction is called being a migratory bird, but a person sent strategically by the party's strategic judgment is not called a migratory bird."

She continued, "Of course, I feel very sorry and grateful to the candidates who worked hard for the party and the spirit of the times and led public sentiment. I think it is now my role because we must go together with them to lead election victory. Creating such a framework for the opposing party is proof that I am a threatening candidate."
