Muan County Council Adopts 'Resolution Urging Legislation of Agricultural Product Price Stabilization System'

Urgent Call for Immediate Legislation to Stabilize Farm Management

The Muan County Council of Jeollanam-do (Chairman Kim Kyung-hyun) unanimously adopted the "Resolution Urging the Legislation of the Agricultural Product Price Stabilization System" at the 1st plenary session of the 292nd extraordinary meeting on the 7th.

The resolution, proposed by Representative Lim Hyun-soo (Democratic Party), calls for the legislation of the agricultural product price stabilization system to respond to the increasing volatility of agricultural product prices.

In the resolution, Representative Lim stated, "The continuous increase in price volatility of rice and major vegetables poses a significant threat to farm management," and argued, "For stable agricultural management, the prompt legislation of the agricultural product price stabilization system is necessary."

He added, "The implementation of the Vegetable Price Stabilization System has already proven the necessity and policy effectiveness of a government-led agricultural product price stabilization system," emphasizing, "Considering the harsh reality of local finances, the implementation of the system at the national level is essential."

Finally, he strongly urged, "The agricultural product price stabilization system is the minimum necessary safeguard to ensure the sustainability of agriculture," and called on the government to make every effort to prepare measures for stabilizing farm management.

Meanwhile, the county council plans to deliver the adopted resolution to the Presidential Secretariat, the National Assembly, the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
