Mokpo Coast Guard, Recruiting 2024 Coastal Safety Keepers
Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Kwon Oh-seong) announced on the 7th that it will recruit 10 members of the ‘Coastal Safety Keepers,’ composed of local residents, from the 25th of this month to the 4th of next month to prevent maritime accidents and establish an efficient coastal safety management system.
The Coastal Safety Keepers are appointed local residents who are well acquainted with the characteristics of coastal waters according to the ‘Act on the Prevention of Coastal Accidents.’ They are assigned to vulnerable areas to carry out duties such as accident prevention promotion and guidance activities through safety patrols and inspection of surrounding safety facilities.

The selection process includes document screening, physical fitness test, and interview evaluation. Those finally selected will receive job and cultural education on relevant laws and procedures for responding to coastal accidents, and will be active for about six months from May to October.
During the activity period, the Coastal Safety Keepers will be assigned in pairs to five high-risk coastal areas in the Mokpo region (Bukhang Pier, Bukhang Pier Small Wharf, Namhang, Dongmyeong Port, and Peace Plaza), working 3 hours on 17 days per month (13 weekdays and 4 weekends) during peak safety management demand hours.
To apply, visit the Mokpo Coast Guard Station’s Maritime Safety Division or nearby Coast Guard substations (Bukhang, Namhang) to fill out and submit an application form.
