Innovative Public Transportation Starting Operation in Samho-eup, Running on Demand When Passengers Call
Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seung-hee) started operating a 'call bus' in Samho-eup on the 5th as part of the 8th public transportation innovation initiative.
According to the county on the 7th, the call bus, which operates without fixed routes and moves according to calls, is expected to establish itself as a demand-tailored advanced mobility service for local residents by providing public transportation that is as convenient as a taxi and as affordable as a bus.

The reason Yeongam-gun operates the call bus in Samho-eup reflects the characteristics of the area. Samho-eup, which has the Daebul Industrial Complex and various schools, shows a pattern where public transportation usage is concentrated during commuting and school hours.
On the other hand, during daytime hours, passenger demand is low, and there has been a consistent need to operate routes and schedules flexibly.
The Yeongam call bus is expected to fulfill the role of existing public transportation during peak demand times while efficiently managing passenger mobility in the right places during daytime hours.
The call bus, which can be used for 1,000 KRW for adults and 100 KRW for infants and elementary, middle, and high school students, can be reserved 30 minutes before boarding via the call center or the smartphone app 'Shuckle'.
It operates by setting the boarding and alighting locations and calling accordingly, and reservations cannot be made after 7:30 PM.
Yeongam-gun plans to analyze the data accumulated from operating the call bus in Samho-eup to improve the usage system and devise ways to make it more convenient for passengers.
