Gyeonggi-do Builds Database of 5,836 Social Economy Organizations
The Gyeonggi-do Social Economy Center has completed the construction of a database (DB) for 5,836 social economy organizations within the province.
According to a survey conducted by the Social Economy Center from May to December last year on social economy organizations, the most common type of social economy organization in the province was cooperatives, accounting for 71.7%. This was followed by (preliminary) social enterprises at 15.8%, social ventures at 4.3%, village enterprises at 3.3%, and self-sufficiency enterprises at 2.7%.
By industry, the sectors included education services (16.1%), wholesale and retail trade (14.6%), manufacturing (12.5%), and health and social welfare services (10.5%).

View original imageBy region, Suwon-si accounted for 8.7%, Goyang-si 7.2%, Hwaseong-si 7.0%, and Seongnam-si 6.8%. The average number of employees was 11.6, and the average sales revenue was 910 million KRW.

Yu Hoon, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Social Economy Center, stated, "We hope that the results of this survey and the constructed DB will be usefully employed as basic data for policy-making. Through regional-level analysis, we aim to widely promote the achievements of the social economy and provide trustworthy data to residents through continuous surveys."
