Park Ji-won Announces Candidacy for 5th Term in Haenam, Wando, and Jindo

Former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won of the Democratic Party of Korea officially declared his candidacy for the 22nd general election in Haenam-gun, Wando-gun, and Jindo-gun on the 6th.

Park, who is preparing for the primary as a Democratic Party preliminary candidate, held a press conference at his campaign office in Haenam-eup, expressing his ambition to “turn Haenam, Wando, and Jindo into lands of opportunity, life, and abundance, and develop them into the premier region of Namdo,” officially announcing his challenge for a fifth term.

Former Director Park defined the spirit of this general election as “judging the Yoon Seok-yeol and Kim Geon-hui administration and ending the prosecution-led government,” emphasizing that “we must judge the forces that created and neglected the crisis of Haenam, Wando, and Jindo, which are facing regional extinction along with the crisis of the Republic of Korea.”

He also announced key pledges for regional development: △ Proclaiming the KTX era for Haenam, Wando, and Jindo △ Constructing more island bridges and land bridges △ Expanding metropolitan water supply to solve water shortage issues △ Attracting Jeonnam National (Public) Medical School and specialized hospitals for children and adolescents △ Drastically improving jobs for seniors and youth △ Supporting the construction of the National Subtropical Arboretum and the Marine Fisheries Museum. He stated, “These are the things Park Ji-won can do best: securing national and provincial funds and actively attracting national projects.”

He also promised to establish and attract a provisional Immigration and Immigration Office Honam Headquarters to address urgent local issues such as multicultural families and foreign workers.

Preliminary candidate Park Ji-won pledged, “I will never miss the principle of Geumgwiwollae (金歸月來), always meet and communicate with the local people, and devote myself to securing and attracting local budgets and national projects,” adding, “In central politics, I will be a capable member of the National Assembly who restores the pride of the residents of Haenam, Wando, and Jindo.”

Finally, he declared, “With the determination that tomorrow is the last day of my life, I will devote everything and work and fight fiercely.”
