Jung-gu Secures 6.6 Billion KRW for First 2024 Supplementary Budget... Restoring Relations with the Council
The first supplementary budget for this year in Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) has been finalized at 6.6 billion KRW.
On March 6, the Jung-gu Council reviewed and approved the budget by cutting 700 million KRW from the 7.3 billion KRW budget proposal submitted by Jung-gu. Of the 6.6 billion KRW, 5.5 billion KRW is for the general account and 1.1 billion KRW for the special account.
With this, most of the budget cuts made during the 2024 main budget council review have been restored.
This supplementary budget includes ▲1.5 billion KRW for waste disposal fees such as at the Mapo Resource Recovery Facility ▲1.1 billion KRW for operation and repair/reinforcement of public parking lots and aging facilities ▲200 million KRW for road facility maintenance ▲950 million KRW for the operation of the Facilities Management Corporation ▲420 million KRW for the operation of the Cultural Foundation ▲130 million KRW for the operation of Jung-gu and Jungnim Comprehensive Welfare Centers ▲250 million KRW for the operation of the Clothing Fashion Support Center to support sewing companies ▲10 million KRW to strengthen branding for traditional markets and alley-type shopping districts ▲390 million KRW for labor costs of the Clean Codi cleaning and job project ▲50 million KRW for the development of customized urban planning information services for residents ▲30 million KRW for expert preliminary review service costs related to the relaxation of Namsan altitude restrictions ▲180 million KRW for the operation of the Video Production Support Center, and 86 million KRW for video content production costs.
With the securing of this supplementary budget, the Clothing Fashion Support Center, which had suspended operations on the 1st of last month, has reopened, enabling stable resumption of projects that had faced difficulties since early this year due to budget cuts.
Jung-gu strongly protested the unreasonable cuts in this year’s main budget and worked hard to secure the budget. This effort led to a meeting between the ruling and opposition floor leaders on the 22nd of last month. After agreeing to prioritize residents’ welfare and to communicate and cooperate, they achieved the restoration of most of the cut budgets.
