Annual Public Contest... Explaining the System to Emerging Artist Employers
"No matter when or how the program ends, I am no longer anxious. Because I can receive unemployment benefits, even if a small amount, while looking for my next job. Above all, I am happy just knowing that our society cares about and supports the employment stability of artists."

The Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (Director Park Jong-gil) and the Korea Artists Welfare Foundation (CEO Park Young-jung) are holding ‘visiting briefing sessions’ in 10 regions nationwide to help employers participating in cultural and artistic contest projects handle artist employment·industrial accident insurance-related tasks more easily.
Additionally, the Service recognizes that efforts by artists to claim their rights are essential for system stability and has also prepared education for prospective artists.
Visiting briefing sessions will also be conducted for cultural and artistic associations and organizations, as well as educational institutions such as universities with art-related departments. If you want detailed education on the artist employment insurance system, please do not hesitate to contact the Service.
In 2023, the Service visited Incheon National University, Pusan National University, Hansei University, Chonnam National University, and others to provide education, explaining the system in an easy and fun way through quizzes, receiving great responses from prospective artists.
Park Jong-gil, Director of the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service, said, "Since the artist employment insurance system started on December 10, 2020, the number of subscribers has exceeded 210,000, laying the foundation to serve as an employment safety net in the cultural and artistic fields. However, many artists still do not receive the benefits of employment insurance due to a lack of understanding of the system, and employers newly designated as contest project operators find the artist employment insurance system unfamiliar. We hope this briefing session will provide an opportunity to access the employment insurance system more easily."
