Attended LEAP to Introduce Digital Platform Government
Met with Ministers of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Ministry of Interior
Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min attended the technology expo LEAP 2024 held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he introduced Korea's Digital Platform Government and held meetings with ministers.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 5th, Minister Lee stated in his keynote speech at LEAP that 'GovTech,' which innovates government services and creates new opportunities for businesses by integrating the latest technologies between the government and the private sector, will determine the future national competitiveness.
He then introduced Korea's Digital Platform Government, which recently achieved first place for two consecutive times in the OECD Digital Government Evaluation, as a representative example of public-private collaborative GovTech, urging continuous cooperation with Korea and congratulating the successful hosting of the event.
Minister Lee met with Abdullah Al-Sawaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia, who hosted the event, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the digital government sector. He also introduced Saudi Arabia to the public sector cloud transition policy, a core task of the Digital Platform Government focused on public-private collaboration. Minister Abdullah responded, "Korea's cloud and smart city sectors are very impressive, and if cooperation in related fields is strengthened, venture capital investment will also expand."
Minister Lee also met with Majid Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing of Saudi Arabia, requesting support for the local advancement of Korean companies and conveyed that the Ministry of the Interior and Safety would actively cooperate.
In a meeting with Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia, they focused on cooperation in the field of public safety. In particular, they discussed strengthening close international cooperation against new types of crimes such as cybercrime and voice phishing, and agreed to promote invitation training for the transfer of Korea's advanced investigation techniques and public safety systems.
Additionally, Minister Lee mentioned that Korea has been hosting the international CSI conference annually since 2015 and requested the participation of the Saudi Ministry of Interior in the conference to be held this October. In response, Prince Abdulaziz said he would personally lead the Saudi delegation to attend the international CSI conference.

Minister Lee stated, "We will actively promote Korea's Digital Platform Government, which is recognized worldwide for its excellence, in the Middle East region to support more domestic IT companies in expanding overseas without hesitation."
