Lee Su-won, People Power Party Preliminary Candidate, Announces Candidacy for Busan Buk-gu Eul District
"Pouring Experience and Passion to Create a Premium Self-Sufficient City"
Declaration to Complete the Last Puzzle of the Nakdong River Belt
Lee Su-won, a preliminary candidate from the People Power Party, has thrown his hat into the ring for the newly confirmed electoral district of Busan Buk-gu Eul.
Lee previously served as the Chief Secretary to National Assembly Speaker Chung Eui-hwa and as the Party Committee Chairman for Busanjin-gu Gap.
He initially declared his candidacy for Busanjin-gu Gap but was blocked from running after the party gave a single nomination to Jeong Seong-guk, the first talent recruit candidate. Subsequently, he registered as a preliminary candidate for the newly divided Buk-gu Eul and announced his candidacy again.
In his declaration, Lee said, “With the spirit of Lee Dae-do-gang (李代挑畺), meaning 'cutting down the plum tree to save the peach tree,' and Seon-dang-hu-sa (先黨後私), meaning 'party first, private interests later,' I accepted the party’s decision. Although I was born and raised in Busanjin-gu, I will now dedicate all my abilities and passion to Buk-gu and work here until my bones rest.”
He also appealed for support, saying, “I will pour all my experience and abilities into the remarkable ongoing changes in Buk-gu.”
He highlighted his experience managing local administration as a policy advisor and spokesperson in Gyeonggi Province, coordinating central administration as a political secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, and gaining experience in national governance.
He asked for recognition of his outstanding skills in legislative operations, having served in key National Assembly positions such as parliamentary aide, senior political secretary to the Speaker, and Chief Secretary to the Speaker.
Preliminary candidate Lee Su-won pointed out, “Busan Buk-gu is a city where urban life and nature coexist, with potential for growth in all areas including culture, arts, and tourism. However, transportation and educational infrastructure remain insufficient, causing inconvenience to citizens.”
