Gyeonggi-do Conducts Special Inspection of Safety Blind Spots in 'Bungee Jumping and Zipline'
Gyeonggi Province will conduct an urgent special safety inspection to prevent the recurrence of leisure sports-related safety accidents, such as the bungee jumping accident at Anseong Starfield that occurred on the 26th of last month.
On the 5th, Gyeonggi Province announced that starting from the 6th, it has requested each city and county to identify the status of indoor and outdoor bungee jumping and zipline businesses.
Currently, sports facilities or amusement facilities must be registered under individual laws such as the Tourism Promotion Act or the Sports Facilities Act, but there are no related regulations for bungee jumping or ziplines. Accordingly, building owners can operate these facilities simply by reporting them, making them a safety blind spot without installation or safety standards.
Gyeonggi Province plans to begin joint safety inspections with city and county officials and private experts as early as mid-March, once the status of bungee jumping and zipline facilities by city and county is confirmed.

Kim Byung-tae, head of Gyeonggi Province's Special Safety Inspection Team, stated, "If safety issues are found during the inspection, minor matters will be corrected on-site, and the inspection results will be notified to the relevant local governments to recommend that business owners take safety measures."
