Kim Tae-seong, a preliminary candidate for the Yeongam-Muan-Shinan constituency of the Democratic Party of Korea, held the opening ceremony of his campaign office on the 4th floor of Namak Jeil Plaza at 2 p.m. on the 2nd.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 1,000 residents from the Yeongam, Muan, and Shinan areas, aiming to realize "grassroots democracy" and create a "harmonious space for communication with the county residents," rather than focusing on major political and governmental figures. Representatives from professional organizations such as the Jamjam Mountaineering Club, the Democratic Party of Korea’s National Rank-and-File Council, and the Daejeon Metropolitan City Party Rank-and-File Council also participated.

In his opening remarks, Candidate Kim pointed out the seriousness of climate change and the imbalance in the supply and demand of agricultural, fishery, and livestock products in the region, stating, “In times of economic downturn or supply chain instability, I will strive to reduce the debts of agricultural, fishery, and livestock farmers through government public fund injections.” He added, “To guarantee income for representative agricultural and fishery products such as figs, onions, green onions, and livestock products, I will thoroughly discuss with field experts and propose the results of this collective wisdom to the party leader and the ruling government to resolve regional issues.”
He also announced plans to attract solar power generation facilities to the noise zone around Muan International Airport and to provide compensation of about 2 million KRW annually, including basic energy income, to affected residents.
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, sent a congratulatory message stating, “Preliminary candidate Kim Tae-seong, a general with both civil and military expertise, has been a great asset to our party with his experience and insight. His concerns and passion for regional development will play a significant role for our party and local communities.”
