72% of Generation Z Have Invested in Stocks or Coins... Studying Stocks on YouTube and TikTok
It was found that 72% of Generation Z job seekers have experience investing in stocks, cryptocurrencies, and other assets. The main channels for obtaining investment information were social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
On the 29th, recruitment content platform Catch conducted a survey of 1,815 Generation Z job seekers regarding their preferred financial management methods: 'saving vs. investing.' The results showed that 'saving' was preferred by 59%, while 'investing' was close behind at 41%. The top reason for preferring saving was 'stability,' cited by 81%. This was followed by 'securing a lump sum for emergencies' at 25%, and 'relatively easy and simple' at 11%. Other reasons included 'satisfaction with interest income' (8%) and 'using it as seed money for investment' (4%). Among those who preferred investing, the main advantage was 'high profitability' (69%). Next were 'future financial comfort' at 29% and 'enjoyment of generating profits' at 16%. Additionally, about 3% preferred investing due to 'recommendations or encouragement from acquaintances.'
Seven out of ten Generation Z job seekers reported having investment experience. Among the investment methods experienced (multiple responses allowed), 'stocks' ranked highest at 58%, followed by 'cryptocurrencies' such as Bitcoin at 14%. Other methods included ▲funds (6%), ▲bonds (5%), ▲reselling (4%), ▲real estate investment (1%), and ▲non-fungible tokens (NFTs) (1%). Regarding sources of investment information (multiple responses allowed), social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok were the most used at 46%. This was followed by 'news media' at 25%, 'acquaintances' at 17%, and 'investment-related books' at 16%. Additionally, 12% responded that they do not study investment separately.
