Jungnang-gu Holds 105th Anniversary 3·1 Movement National Love Commemoration Ceremony
Scheduled for March 1st at 11 AM at Mangu History and Culture Park... District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi: 'We will continue the united spirit of the March 1st Movement that turned crisis into opportunity'
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold the "105th Anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement Commemoration Ceremony" at 11 a.m. on March 1st, jointly organized with the Gwangbokhoe Jungnang-gu Branch (Yoo Yeon-seung) at the Mangwoo History and Culture Park Itaewon Cemetery Unmarked Graves Collective Burial Site.
The event aims to reflect on the noble spirit of the independence movement that ignited 105 years ago and to continue the spirit of patriotism.
The Mangwoo History and Culture Park, where the event takes place, is the resting place of many patriots including Yu Gwan-sun, Manhae Han Yong-un, Wichang Oh Se-chang, as well as independence activists Bang Jeong-hwan and Moon Il-pyeong. It is a place imbued with the noble lives and sacrificial spirit of those who devoted themselves to the country.
The commemoration ceremony will begin with the national anthem, followed by the reading of the Declaration of Independence by five people including Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi and Gwangbokhoe Jungnang-gu Branch President Yoo Yeon-seung, and a commemorative speech honoring the spirit of the March 1st Independence Movement.
Next, an elementary school student will read a letter to the ancestors who led the independence movement, followed by a performance of the song "Eighteen Flowers" about Yu Gwan-sun, the singing of the March 1st Independence Movement song, a floral tribute, and the three cheers for independence to conclude the event.
