'Gyeongnam Region Nuclear Power Plant SMEs Meeting' Held on 28th
500 Billion Won Financing Planned This Year
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will provide policy funds, technology guarantees, and other support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) related to nuclear power plants.

View original imageOn the afternoon of the 28th, Oh Young-joo, Minister of SMEs and Startups, attended the ‘Gyeongnam Region Nuclear Power Plant SMEs Meeting’ held at Samhong Machinery in Changwon, Gyeongnam, and stated, “The Ministry plans to steadily implement the ‘Support Measures for Nuclear Power Plant SMEs’ and the ‘Mid- to Long-term Competitiveness Enhancement Plan for Nuclear Power Plant SMEs’ prepared in 2022 as originally planned.” The meeting was an opportunity to listen to the difficulties faced by SMEs related to nuclear power plants and to explore policy support measures.
Minister Oh emphasized, “To restore the ecosystem of nuclear power plant SMEs, we will actively deploy the Ministry’s core policy tools such as policy funds, technology guarantees, and research and development (R&D). In particular, as part of the ‘Legend 50+’ project, which will be fully launched this year, we will closely cooperate and support Gyeongsangnam-do to ensure the success of the ‘Manufacturing Innovation for Next-Generation Nuclear Industry Transition’ project currently underway in Gyeongnam.”
Legend 50+ is a regional SME development model in which local governments plan projects aligned with regional industrial strategies, and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups provides core policy tools such as policy funds, smart factories, and startup-focused universities as a package over three years.

The Ministry plans to support the management stability of nuclear power plant SMEs with 300 billion KRW in policy funds and 50 billion KRW in special guarantees from 2022 to 2027, and to strengthen technological competitiveness through 150 billion KRW in R&D. This year, to alleviate financial difficulties of nuclear power plant SMEs, it will promote 50 billion KRW in loans, special guarantees for facility funds up to 10 billion KRW, and 17 billion KRW in specialized R&D projects.
