Lee Jun-seok Adds Weight to Dongtan Candidacy Rumors: "Will Consider If District Is Divided"

Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, hinted at the possibility of running for office in Dongtan, Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province.
On the morning of the 27th, at a press conference announcing the general election strategy for the southern Gyeonggi advanced belt held in the briefing room of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Lee stated, "In the case of Dongtan in Gyeonggi Province, if the electoral districts are divided into Hwaseong-byeong and Hwaseong-ro, I may consider running."
He also evaluated, "(Dongtan) is a good space for the Reform New Party to communicate with the younger generation we aim for and to present various pledges about their future."
Lee added, "There is a lot of interest in my candidacy location, and I am cautious because I can move after establishing the party's strategy," and "There is great interest in the semiconductor belt, and I do not rule out the possibility of supporting the efforts of the two incumbent lawmakers in the semiconductor belt."
On the same day, the Reform New Party announced the general election strategy for the southern Gyeonggi advanced belt, including the semiconductor specialized complex in Yongin.
Yang Hyang-ja, the floor leader, said, "The success of the Yongin semiconductor specialized complex is Korea's hope," and added, "The government will directly establish the infrastructure for the K-Chips Act specialized complex to advance the factory operation period by more than three years."

The Reform New Party also revealed plans to expand residential conditions in the southern Gyeonggi area based on the Yongin semiconductor specialized complex. They are also planning to build transportation networks. The expansion will extend north to Giheung, west to Dongtan, east to Wonsam-myeon, and south to Pyeongtaek, centered on Yongin. Additionally, plans include △priority allocation of local government grants adjacent to the specialized complex △expansion of the tax credit rate for advanced industry investment from 15% to 25% △connection of the specialized complex semiconductor highway and southern Gyeonggi railway network △establishment of advanced technology educational institutions in the southern Gyeonggi area.
