Gominjeong: "Did I boycott the Supreme Council because of Im Jongseok's nomination? It was not even discussed"
"Many Distrust Internal Party Nominations... Leadership Needs to Explain"
"Must Also Clarify Allegations of Unfair Opinion Polls"
Go Min-jung, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) classified as pro-Moon Jae-in, stated on the 27th regarding media reports that she is boycotting the Supreme Council meetings due to internal party nomination controversies, "I have not declared a refusal to perform party duties or a boycott; rather, the party duties are already being refused." She explained that since party affairs are not progressing, attending the meetings is meaningless. She has been absent from the Supreme Council meetings since the day before, urging changes in the nomination process.
On the same day, on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' Go said, "There are also stories that I am absent from the Supreme Council meetings to resolve the nomination issue of former Blue House Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok, but that is not true," adding, "This is a problem-raising measure calling for responsible explanations from the leadership amid the deep distrust in the party's nomination process." She continued, "Many articles view former Chief Im's nomination issue as a core dispute, but in fact, that matter has not even been discussed at the Supreme Council."
She said, "The Supreme Council meeting is the final decision-making body responsible for resolving problems when the party is in a difficult situation," and added, "Even long-standing core members of the Democratic Party, as well as opposing factions and those who lost nominations, are worried about the nominations, yet related discussions are not taking place, so I judged that attending the meetings is meaningless."

She pointed to distrust in the nomination process as the biggest problem within the party. Go said, "I believe the Nomination Management Committee and the Strategic Nomination Management Committee operate according to an established system," but also pointed out, "However, there are various issues being raised about the nominations." She added, "There have always been the bottom 20% in the nomination suitability evaluations, so why are people openly raising problems this time? Ultimately, the nomination results are not being persuaded or accepted."

Go also highlighted many issues regarding internal opinion polls. On the 25th, the Democratic Party decided to exclude the polling firm Research DNA from the primary election polls amid controversies over unfair opinion polls. The firm is known to have participated in several party-related general election opinion polls, including evaluations of incumbent lawmakers and suitability surveys for general election candidates. She emphasized, "Since suspicions have only intensified, the controversy could potentially affect the primary election," and stressed, "The party must take appropriate measures to end the distrust." She also pointed out, "Although excluding Research DNA has partially settled the controversy, there needs to be an explanation of the criteria for including candidates and conducting opinion polls," adding, "The party entity that conducted the opinion polls has not been revealed at all."
