Ulsan's Water Quality is Excellent... All Tap Water Drinking Standards Fully Met
Waterworks Headquarters, January Water Quality Test Results Very Safe
Ulsan tap water has been found to meet all drinking water quality standards, making it very safe.
The Ulsan Waterworks Headquarters (Director Kim Sang-yuk) announced on the 25th that the water quality test results of Ulsan tap water conducted in January met both South Korea's drinking water quality standards and the World Health Organization (WHO) water quality standards, indicating a very safe level.
The water quality testing facilities were the Hoeya and Cheonsang Water Purification Plants, and the test items numbered 60.
Detailed test results showed that △ four microbial items including general bacteria, total coliform group, and Escherichia coli △ twelve harmful inorganic substances such as ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, fluoride, heavy metals, and boron were all "not detected or below the standard."
Additionally, △ seventeen health-hazardous organic substances such as phenol, benzene, and carbon tetrachloride were "not detected," and △ eleven disinfectants and disinfection by-products including residual chlorine, total trihalomethanes, and chloroform were also measured as "not detected or below the standard."
Moreover, △ sixteen aesthetic impact substances such as hardness, odor, taste, color, and turbidity were each investigated as "not detected, suitable, or below the standard."
Furthermore, water quality tests conducted on a total of 104 general household faucets and 10 old pipe faucets, selected based on the population served by each district, showed that residual chlorine was at an appropriate level, and all locations met water quality standards.
A representative from the Waterworks Headquarters stated, "Based on regular water quality test results, the tap water supplied from the purification plants to each household is much lower than the drinking water quality standards, so it is safe and clean water that citizens can drink with confidence."
Detailed water quality test results can be searched on the Ulsan Waterworks Headquarters website.
