Seville is the capital of Seville Province in the southwestern Andalusia region of Spain. It is home to various tourist attractions including UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Alc?zar Palace and Seville Cathedral, as well as the Plaza de Espa?a, where the Ibero-American Exposition was held in 1929. As of last year, it is widely known as a tourist city visited by 3.42 million tourists worldwide.
Seville is also an industrial hub accounting for 25% of the Andalusian region's gross domestic product (GDP). It is known for its developed manufacturing industries such as textiles and automobiles, as well as finance, and is recognized as a competitive city in eco-friendly renewable energy and aerospace industries.
The letter of intent for friendly exchange includes commitments to "communicate and cooperate for the development of various fields such as economy, culture, tourism, education, and environment by exchanging economic delegations, holding fairs and seminars, exchanging cultural and artistic groups, and supporting promotion to strengthen a stable friendly cooperative relationship."
Mayor Lee said, "I consider it very meaningful that Yongin City has established a cooperative relationship with Seville, which is called the 'Pearl of Andalusia.' I hope that the two cities will actively exchange in various ways and learn a lot from each other while developing together, especially since Seville is a popular destination for Korean people."
Mayor Sanz of Seville also responded, "Let us actively exchange in the future to promote mutual development," and added, "I will consider visiting Korea and Yongin at an appropriate time."
