Icheon Rice Culture Festival Wins Korea Festival Content Award
Selected as Grand Prize Winner in the 'Festival Global Luxury Category'
Gyeonggi-do Icheon City announced on the 23rd that its representative local festival, the 'Icheon Rice Culture Festival,' won the grand prize in the 'Festival Global Premium Category' at the 2024 Korea Festival Content Awards.
Hosted by the Korea Festival Content Association, the Korea Festival Content Awards recognize local festivals that have contributed to the regional festival content industry. The awards began in 2012 and are now in their 12th year. This year, the association selected 30 festivals across 6 categories, along with 5 special awards and director's awards.

The city explained that the development of various programs centered on Icheon rice and the specialization of agricultural culture through Daedongnori (traditional communal play) received high praise during the evaluation. It was also reported that the absence of any safety accidents during the festival period and achievements such as the eradication of overcharging contributed to the selection for the grand prize.
Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, stated, "We will continue to develop the Icheon Rice Culture Festival to promote regional coexistence and economic revitalization."

Meanwhile, this year's Icheon Rice Culture Festival will be held for five days from October 16 to 20 at the Icheon Agricultural Theme Park.
