Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it has finalized the target complexes and support amounts for the '2024 Apartment Complex Support Project' and will provide 1 billion KRW in support for 54 projects starting this month to create a safe and pleasant living environment.
The 'Apartment Complex Support Project' is a program in which the district supports part of the maintenance and repair costs of common areas such as children's playgrounds and outdoor parking lots within apartment complexes with 20 or more households in the area, as well as outdoor sewer dredging.
This project has received great responses from residents due to its high perceived effect on improving the residential environment. Last year, the district supported 61 projects in 188 complexes (including electricity fee support for outdoor security lights).
Earlier, to expedite the process, the district began accepting applications on November 27 of last year. As a result, for the common facility maintenance sector, a total of 65 projects in 50 complexes requested support funds amounting to 1,010 million KRW, and for the outdoor security light electricity fee sector, 188 complexes requested about 239 million KRW, totaling 1,249.16 million KRW in requested support funds.
This year’s budget is 1.2 billion KRW. The district carefully reviewed the project feasibility, legality, and appropriateness of the amount through expert on-site inspections. Then, at the review committee meeting held on the 14th, 54 projects in 50 complexes across 14 categories were finally selected to receive 735 million KRW, and the electricity fees for outdoor security lights in 188 complexes will be fully supported with 239 million KRW, an increase of 40 million KRW compared to last year.
Representative support projects include ▲repair and dredging of outdoor sewage and wastewater pipes in small-scale apartments with fewer than 100 households ▲maintenance of hazardous trees touching or entangled with power lines ▲repair of aging children's playgrounds ▲installation of safety nets on water tank access ladders ▲replacement of old transformers ▲installation of waterproof panels in underground parking lots ▲retaining wall repair works, among others.
In particular, the district prioritized projects with high perceived impact related to residents' safety, focusing on complexes that did not receive benefits last year to ensure more apartment complexes can benefit.
Moreover, to protect the rights and interests of the elderly, disabled, and apartment workers, incentives (5-10%) were provided for private senior centers’ construction and repair, installation and improvement of facilities for the disabled, and improvement projects for the working environment of security and cleaning workers.
