Special Tax for Local Issues and Disaster Safety
Request for 23.7 Billion KRW in 9 National Subsidies
On the 21st, Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced that Vice Mayor Kim Seong-gyu is making extensive efforts, including visiting central government departments to secure national funds and special grants.
Vice Mayor Kim visited the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Grant Tax Division and Disaster Management Policy Division to explain the necessity of promoting various dependent resource projects and requested support for a total of seven special grants, including two local issues and five disaster safety projects.
Deputy Mayor Kim Sung-kyu is visiting the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to request special grant support.
View original imageThe local issue projects include the Bito Ssoksagwim (tidal flat) ecological exploration trail construction project (2 billion KRW) and the environmentally friendly fishing guidance vessel replacement construction (2 billion KRW). These two projects will significantly contribute to establishing Sacheon City's marine ecological tourism foundation and improving the safety and operational guidance conditions for fishing vessels.
The disaster safety projects consist of five items: Daesan small stream maintenance (2.1 billion KRW), unnamed Bridge No. 3 reconstruction (2 billion KRW), Duryang small stream maintenance (1.7 billion KRW), unnamed Bridge No. 2 reconstruction (1.2 billion KRW), and Imnae forest bridge maintenance (700 million KRW). These projects aim to ensure citizen safety through natural disaster preparedness and maintenance of small-scale public facilities.
Additionally, at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Balanced Development Promotion Division, Vice Mayor Kim actively requested an additional 10 billion KRW in national funds through changes to the comprehensive development plan for areas surrounding U.S. military bases in Korea. He also actively requested the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Road Management Division to select Sacheon for the smart complex rest area public contest project.

Vice Mayor Kim stated, “With the Aerospace Administration Agency's opening imminent in Sacheon, securing government budgets such as special grants and national funds is crucial for building an aerospace complex city, including improving residential conditions. We will do our best to expand finances through continuous cooperation with central government departments such as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.”
