Battery Industry Association Hosts 'The Battery Conference'... Participation of Global Scholars
Over 60 Battery Experts from 9 Countries Participate as Speakers
The Korea Battery Industry Association and COEX announced on the 21st that they will hold 'The Battery Conference 2024' at COEX, Seoul, from the 6th to the 7th of next month.
Now in its 13th year, 'The Battery Conference 2024' is held concurrently with 'InterBattery 2024' and has established itself as a conference attended by the world's top battery experts. This year, speakers include Ryoji Kanno, a leading authority on solid-state batteries and professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan; Hee-Tak Kim, professor at KAIST who visualized the feasibility of the world's first liquid electrolyte-based lithium metal battery; and R&D executives from LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, and SK On, along with over 60 global battery experts from 9 countries.
The latest technology trends related to next-generation batteries such as solid-state batteries and lithium metal batteries, as well as the technology development strategies of the three major battery companies, will be introduced. Additionally, experts from Australia and Indonesia will present on the current status of key mineral resources such as nickel and refining technologies.
In the 'Plenary Session' covering the entire conference, under the theme of the present and future of next-generation batteries, world-renowned scholars Ryoji Kanno from Tokyo Institute of Technology and Hee-Tak Kim from KAIST will present on the conference's key topic, 'Transition to the Post-Lithium Era' (solid-state and metal batteries).
As keynote speakers, the three global battery manufacturers will participate directly to present their battery business strategies and technological capabilities. Kim Jeyoung, CTO of LG Energy Solution, will speak about the global top battery technology strategies. Ko Jooyoung, Vice President of Samsung SDI's ASB (All Solid Battery) Commercialization Promotion Team, announced he will present 'Samsung SDI's EV Battery Development Strategy.' Lee Jonha, Vice President of SK On, will discuss SK On's R&D direction for product portfolio diversification under the theme 'Form Factor and Chemistry of Lithium-Ion Batteries for Electric Vehicles.'
A notable conference topic includes presentations on the resource status and new refining technologies of countries holding key battery minerals. The CEO of Queensland Pacific Metals, an Australian battery material (nickel and cobalt) producer, will participate as a speaker to present on 'Core Standards for Sustainable Nickel Production.'
From Indonesia, the country with the world's largest nickel reserves, there will be presentations on nickel refining processes and extraction technology. The conference will also showcase advanced battery technology equipment from global automation companies to strengthen battery manufacturing competitiveness.
