A man in his 40s arrested for threatening a driver with a weapon while posing as a substitute driver
The Seoul Western Police Station announced on the 19th that they have arrested a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, who impersonated a designated driver, got into a vehicle, threatened the driver with a weapon, and fled.
On the same day, Judge Lee Soon-hyung, who is in charge of warrants at the Seoul Western District Court, conducted a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review) for Mr. A, who is charged with special robbery and attempted special robbery, and issued an arrest warrant citing "risk of flight."
According to the police, at around 6:54 a.m. on the 17th, Mr. A stopped a car exiting a villa parking lot in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, asked, "Did you call a designated driver?" then got into the front passenger seat and threatened the driver with a weapon. The driver immediately got out of the car without injury, and Mr. A fled.

Mr. A also threatened a taxi driver with a weapon after leaving the crime scene and taking a taxi. He was urgently arrested at around 2:30 p.m. the same day in Eungam-dong, Eunpyeong-gu. Mr. A was confirmed to be the same suspect who extorted money from a customer after providing designated driving services in Dapsimni-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, on the 14th.
