Chungnam Province "Project Budget Increase, Massive Expansion of Senior Job Opportunities"
214.1 Billion KRW Budget Allocated This Year, 49,000 Senior Jobs Created
Measures to Prepare for Reemployment Surge After Baby Boom Generation Retirement
Focus on Creating High-Income Jobs with Expertise, Not Just Simple Jobs
Chungnam Province will significantly expand senior job opportunities this year by increasing the project budget. This measure takes into account the situation where the baby boom generation (born between 1955 and 1963) is retiring from the frontline and seeking reemployment.
On the 19th, Chungnam Province announced that it will invest 214.1 billion KRW in the senior job project this year. This year's budget is 53.2 billion KRW larger than last year's. With the increased budget, Chungnam Province expects the number of jobs to rise to 49,280, an increase of 6,783 compared to the previous year.
The types of jobs are categorized into four groups: ▲ Public interest activity type with volunteer work characteristics (36,688 jobs) ▲ Social service type considering the career and capabilities of employed seniors (8,393 jobs) ▲ Market type involving small-scale store operations and joint operation of specialized business groups (3,172 jobs) ▲ Employment placement type providing jobs to seniors with work ability (1,027 jobs).
In particular, considering the large influx of the baby boom generation into the senior population this year, Chungnam Province increased the social service type jobs by 3,775 compared to the previous year, more than the public interest activity type. The social service type jobs require expertise but guarantee high income.
Additionally, Chungnam Province explained that market-type projects, which can generate high income as private sector jobs, increased by 924 compared to the previous year.
Previously, Chungnam Province established the ‘Chungnam Province Senior Job Integrated Support Center’ last year and has been discovering senior jobs tailored to regional characteristics.
As a pilot project, they developed a reusable container collection project and distributed it to the Hongseong Senior Club, and as a new public offering project, selected the pet bathing business of the Taean Senior Club to promote market-type projects as representative examples.
This year, they plan to promote senior job projects from multiple angles, including discovering new jobs in cooperation with large corporations and public enterprises, improving aging facilities of market-type business groups, and holding senior job fairs.
