This administrative visit was significant as the district mayor personally visited the 27 neighborhood community centers, which have served as focal points for residents, facilitating close communication directly within the residents' daily lives.
At each neighborhood, four resident representatives including the Resident Autonomy Committee Chair and the Tongjang (neighborhood leader) President, along with the neighborhood head, team leaders, and staff members, participated in roundtable-style meetings fostering a free atmosphere for in-depth conversations, listening to even minor civil complaints and engaging in communication.
In particular, there was an honest communication session where vivid evaluations of the major projects of the 8th elected administration were directly heard.
For example, regarding Songpa-gu’s native English classes for daycare centers and kindergartens, the first of its kind in Seoul, residents expressed high satisfaction, saying it “practically helps a lot.” They also expressed gratitude for the free Olympic Park Haha Hoho Water Playground and Snow Sledding Area, and praised the 55-meter large Taegeukgi (Korean national flag) which has become a new landmark of Songpa.
Additionally, residents conveyed thanks for the prompt handling of civil complaints and the resolution of long-standing projects, such as the installation of the rear gate at Bangi Godeun and the swift progress of the Tancheon embankment construction.
On-site suggestions included a total of 68 items ranging from local issues like the construction of new neighborhood office buildings frequently used by residents, facility improvements, and expansion of support for neighborhood specialized projects, to everyday civil complaints.
District Mayor Seo Gang-seok stated, “It was a great opportunity to directly observe the conditions and characteristics of each area and understand the status of each neighborhood,” and announced plans to actively reflect residents’ opinions in this year’s policies.
The on-site visits also included team leaders and staff members along with neighborhood heads, providing an opportunity to candidly listen to the difficulties faced by employees.
One staff member remarked, “Having worked here for nearly 20 years, this is the first time I have had such a close face-to-face meeting with the district mayor,” adding significance to the neighborhood administrative visits.
The collected suggestions were immediately forwarded to the relevant departments after each event, and necessary administrative services or tasks were arranged to provide support.
Furthermore, the district continues communication with residents through a direct phone line for texting with the district mayor and the 'Wishes to the District Mayor' section on the district office website.
