Changwon Coast Guard, Naval Jin-gisa, and Masan Maritime Affairs Office Join Forces for Sea Safety
Marine Institutions Win-Win Development Collaboration Meeting Held
Gyeongnam Changwon Coast Guard, Navy Jinhae Command, and the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Agency have joined forces to manage sea safety.
According to the Changwon Coast Guard Station, on the 16th, the Changwon Coast Guard, Navy Jinhae Base Command, and Masan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office held a collaborative meeting for the mutual development of maritime institutions.

Kim Young-cheol, Chief of Changwon Coast Guard, Kim Tae-hoon, Commander of Jinhae Base, and Yang Dong-yeop, Head of Masan Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, discussed comprehensive maritime security and safety to better manage the seas around Changwon and the Gyeongnam region.
They brainstormed on strengthening field-centered cooperation such as ▲ mutual support between military and police including unidentified vessel detection and identification training ▲ sharing information on vulnerable areas among institutions ▲ mutual exchange of radar sites at Jinhae Base.
To reduce maritime accidents and promote sea safety, they also exchanged opinions on promoting and expanding the use of the vessel terminal ‘E-navi’ project, which provides maritime navigation, hazard alerts, real-time electronic charts, and safety information services.

Based on the discussions, Changwon Coast Guard plans to activate mutual exchanges by identifying and sharing available assets of related agencies and reorganizing the information sharing system for security cooperation and maritime accident prevention and response.

Chief Kim said, “We will actively collaborate with related agencies to prevent maritime international crimes such as illegal immigration and stowaways and to strengthen maritime security,” adding, “We will do our utmost to establish and implement security policies tailored to our region’s characteristics to protect the lives and safety of the people.”
