Cho Kuk "New party formation by late February, early March... Final task is to return prosecutorial power to the people"
Former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk said on the 18th that the party formation process will take place in late February or early March.
After paying respects at the graves of the late Presidents Kim Young-sam and Kim Dae-jung at the National Seoul National Cemetery in Dongjak-dong, former Minister Cho told reporters about the schedule for forming the new party, saying, "It will proceed step by step from this week until the end of the month."
He found the justification for political participation in prosecutorial reform. Former Minister Cho said, "My final task is to return the power held by a handful of political prosecutors back to the people," adding, "It has been 30 years since President Kim Young-sam's administration, but a 'prosecutorial version of Hanahoe' has emerged and is manipulating state affairs."
Regarding the 'underground activist group' criticized by Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, he said, "If we go back in time, it is a party of independence activists who fought against Japanese colonial rule and a party of democratization activists who fought against authoritarianism," adding, "It is only natural to be proud of such movements."

He also emphasized that this 'underground activist group' is a common denominator of the Democratic Party of Korea, the broader progressive camp, and his own new party. Former Minister Cho said, "Both the 'Cho Kuk new party' and the progressive camp parties including the Democratic Party share one thing in common," adding, "If we go back in time, they are parties of independence activists who fought against Japanese colonial rule and parties of democratization activists who fought against authoritarianism."
