Vietnamese Woman Arrested for Abandoning Newborn Baby
Vietnamese Biological Mother Abandons Infant's Body in Freezer
Husband Who Left Body in Vacant Lot Turns Himself In Out of Guilt
A Vietnamese biological mother who abandoned her newborn baby in a freezer has been arrested by the police, while her husband, who is suspected of discovering the baby's body and burying it in a vacant lot, claims that the deceased baby is not his biological child.
On the 16th, the Goesan Police Station in Chungbuk announced that they have arrested and are investigating a Vietnamese woman identified as A (31), who is suspected of abandoning a corpse. A is accused of storing the body of her newborn baby in the refrigerator of an apartment in Jeungpyeong-eup, Jeungpyeong-gun, where she resides.
The police began their investigation after the husband, B (in his 50s), confessed around 10 a.m. on the 15th that he had buried the baby's body in a vacant lot in Jeungpyeong-eup. According to B's confession, his mother discovered the infant's body in the freezer of the refrigerator while cleaning the house around 3 p.m. on the 14th and informed B. Shocked, B buried the baby's body in a nearby vacant lot but later regained his composure and turned himself in. The police searched the vacant lot mentioned by B and confirmed the baby's body. They also arrested A, who had gone missing, around noon on the same day on a highway in Naju, Jeonnam.
B is reported to have claimed, "The deceased child is not my child," citing that he had not been intimate with his wife for several years. The police are investigating the possibility that A committed the crime to conceal the birth of an extramarital child. On the other hand, A claims, "The baby was not breathing from the moment it was born." However, the police are also considering the possibility that A killed a living baby and then hid the body in the freezer as they continue their investigation.
