Seodaemun-gu Wins 'Good Policy Award for Lifelong Learning City' for Operating 50 Plus Center

View original imageSeodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 16th that it recently received the 'Good Policy Award for Lifelong Learning Cities in Korea' from the National Lifelong Learning Cities Association.
The National Lifelong Learning Cities Association is a council where the mayors, county governors, and district heads of 196 municipalities nationwide designated as lifelong learning cities by the Ministry of Education, along with the superintendents of 74 education support offices, gather to discuss and develop policies to expand lifelong education opportunities and foster a learning culture.
Since last year, the association has selected municipalities and education support offices that have implemented excellent lifelong education policies and awarded them the 'Good Policy Award.'
The district was recognized for the excellence of the Seodaemun 50 Plus Center projects, which include ▲ counseling and exploration support for planning a second life for middle-aged and older adults ▲ social contribution and job support through career development, job discovery, entrepreneurship, and career change ▲ support for knowledge and experience sharing and expansion of social networks.
Last year, the center surveyed over 1,200 residents aged 40 to 64 in the district to assess their job needs and readiness, and based on this, conducted job competency enhancement education and employment linkage programs, resulting in the connection of 224 jobs.

Additionally, 235 customized online and offline courses for middle-aged and older adults were offered, with 5,647 participants completing them, and through the operation of the 'Together School,' where middle-aged instructors teach their peers, 43 middle-aged instructors were produced.
