Genesis G80·GV70 Named 'Electric Vehicle of the Year' in Canada
All Three Final Candidates Are Hyundai Motor Group Models
Genesis' electrified models were named 'Electric Vehicle of the Year' in Canada.
On the 16th, Genesis announced at the Canadian International AutoShow held in Toronto, Canada, that the G80 electrified model and the GV70 electrified model were selected as the '2024 Canadian Electric Vehicle of the Year' and '2024 Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year,' respectively.
The 'Canadian Car of the Year' is selected through evaluation and voting by a jury of 48 members, including local automotive experts and journalists, organized by the Canadian Automobile Journalists Association. Among the four award categories?passenger cars, utility vehicles, electric passenger cars, and electric utility vehicles?Genesis swept all the electric vehicle categories.
Notably, the nominees for the 2024 Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle category included three models from Hyundai Motor Group: the Genesis GV70 electrified model, Hyundai Motor Company's Ioniq 5, and Kia EV9.
The Canadian jury evaluated the G80 electrified model as "an electric vehicle with an elegant exterior, well-organized interior, and stable driving performance." Regarding the GV70 electrified model, they stated the reason for selection as "noteworthy value due to its high-quality finish, quiet and powerful driving performance."
The GV70 electrified model was also selected in the '2024 Best Residual Value' category for electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) priced over $65,000 CAD (approximately 86.5 million KRW), hosted by Canadian Black Book, a Canadian automotive industry trend analysis firm.
