This agreement was made with the purpose of mutually enhancing research capabilities and securing international research competitiveness in basic research areas such as early universe, dark matter, black holes, gravitational waves, and space exploration.
KASI will conduct research by processing and analyzing large-scale astronomical observation data collected from domestic and international optical, radio, and space observation facilities using IBS’s supercomputer.
Since July 2022, IBS has been designated as a high-performance computing center specializing in the space field, providing customized services based on large-scale computing and data analysis systems to researchers in astronomy and space science.
Park Young-duk, President of KASI, said, “If we utilize the large-scale astronomical and space observation data collected by KASI along with the high-performance computing resources operated by IBS, we expect to create a synergistic effect.”
