Gwangju Nam-gu to Manage Stray Cat Population through Neutering Program
Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is simultaneously recruiting contractors for the trap-neuter-return (TNR) project and designated animal hospitals for neutering surgeries to control the population of stray cats.
On the 14th, Nam-gu announced, "To resolve complaints related to stray cats and to systematically manage them using the Animal Protection Management System, we will implement the stray cat trap-neuter-return project and the neutering surgery support project," adding, "We will select separate project entities to create an environment where residents and stray cats can live harmoniously."
First, Nam-gu is recruiting contractors who will perform trapping, neutering surgeries, and release of stray cats by the 27th.
This recruitment targets corporations, organizations, and individual businesses capable of performing all tasks from trapping to protection and release of stray cats.
Applicants must be able to trap, protect, and release more than 400 stray cats annually and have the necessary facilities and equipment.
At the same time, designated animal hospitals for stray cat neutering surgeries are also being recruited. This applies to animal hospitals registered within the district, and the application period is the same, until the 27th.
Nam-gu plans to finalize the selection of the trap-neuter-return project contractors and designated animal hospitals on March 4th after document and on-site evaluations.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the Economic Policy Division on the 6th floor of Nam-gu Office or by mail.
