Yoon: "Han Dong-hoon said he will not be involved in election command or candidate selection"

"President and party leader ultimately work for the nation and people"
President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 7th that regarding the conflict between the Presidential Office and Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, over issues such as the nomination for the general election, he had told Chairman Han that he would not interfere in election command or nominations.
In a special interview with KBS aired that day, when the anchor asked, "Have the conflicts between the President and Chairman Han been resolved, and do you think Chairman Han is doing well?" President Yoon responded, "Whether it is the President or the party leader, they must ultimately work for the country and the people, so personal matters are not important. I believe it is wrong to make judgments based on such things," he said.
When asked when he last communicated with Chairman Han, he said, "I haven't spoken recently. We were close, but I said let's meet after the general election."
Regarding former Presidential Office aides running in the April 10 general election, he said, "Would there be a halo effect?" and added, "The media will not stay silent, and the most important thing is how much distance the party and the Presidential Office maintain. I believe it is impossible for the Presidential Office to have a halo effect."
He continued, "Those running in this election were all people who had political aspirations, and I cannot stop them from running. Although I approved their resignation letters, I told them not to expect any special favors and that I myself do not have the ability to provide such things, so they should compete fairly according to the rules."
Meanwhile, on the same day, Chairman Han responded to questions about his relationship with the Presidential Office at a discussion hosted by the Kwanhun Club held at the Press Center, saying, "The President and I have a very long-standing relationship. We have various connections both publicly and privately." He added, "Communication with the Presidential Office is being carried out faithfully through various methods."
