Dead body found near Seogwipo Seopseom... Missing captain from fishing boat sinking accident
The identity of a corpse found in the waters near Seopseom Island, Seogwipo, Jeju, was confirmed to be the captain who went missing in a fishing boat sinking accident.
According to the Seogwipo Coast Guard on the 7th, a report was received at around 11:45 a.m. that a corpse was discovered by a nearby vessel navigating about 2.4 km southeast of Seopseom Island.
Upon receiving the report, the coast guard dispatched rescue teams and the Seogwipo Police Station's coastal rescue boat to the scene and recovered the corpse.
The recovered corpse was in an advanced state of decomposition, and fingerprint analysis after recovery confirmed it to be Captain Oh 00 (60 years old), who was aboard the sunken vessel involved in the accident that occurred about 18.5 km southeast of Pyoseon on the 27th of last month.
The Seogwipo Coast Guard is continuously expanding the search radius and conducting ongoing land and sea searches to find the remaining missing person.
