BMW High-Performance Compact SAV 'New X1 M35i' Launched in Korea
X1 High-Performance Model First Released Domestically
BMW is introducing its first high-performance model of a compact Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in Korea.
BMW Korea announced on the 7th that it will officially launch the SAV 'New X1 M35i xDrive' in the domestic market.
The 'New X1 M35i xDrive' is the first high-performance model in the BMW X1 lineup to be introduced in Korea. It features BMW M-exclusive design elements both inside and out. The front grille with the 'M' logo, M-exclusive front spoiler, and M-exclusive side mirrors are installed. Additionally, it includes 19-inch bi-color wheels, M-exclusive quad tailpipes, and a roof spoiler, among other M-specific features.
The interior space is equipped with 'M Aluminum Hexacube Light Interior Trim,' an M leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, M door sill trims, and M pedals. It also combines a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.7-inch control display.
The front seats come with 'Active Sports Seats' that include a massage function. The rear seats also have adjustable backrest angles. The trunk capacity is 540 liters by default and can be expanded up to 1600 liters by folding down all the rear seatbacks. The power-operated trunk can be opened and closed with a foot gesture.
The 'New X1 M35i xDrive' is equipped with BMW's latest operating system, 'BMW Operating System (OS) 9.' It offers a more intuitive user interface and natural voice command system, allowing vehicle functions to be controlled as easily as a smartphone.
Notably, it is the first to feature a T-map-based Korean BMW navigation system developed in collaboration with T-map Mobility. It reflects all map information, including traffic conditions, in real-time to guide the optimal route. For electric vehicle models, it also provides charging-optimized routes.
The car is powered by an M TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 317 horsepower and a peak torque of 40.7 kg·m, paired with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with a dual-clutch system. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
The intelligent all-wheel-drive system 'BMW xDrive' is applied, with a mechanical limited-slip differential (LSD) on the front axle. This provides high traction on rough roads or in bad weather and ensures agility on curves. The standard 'Adaptive M Suspension' includes mechanically controlled adjustable frequency-selective dampers that effectively absorb small shocks from the road surface even during dynamic driving.
