Residents Feel 'Reliable Partner Jung-gu' Through Prompt Guidance During Implementation of Inconvenience Issues
"Even if the year passes, we will make sure to follow through on every single opinion of the residents until it is fully implemented."
Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gil-seong) will hold a 'Resident Communication Meeting' in the mayor's office from the 22nd of this month to February 6th. This is to carefully review the residents' complaints heard last year from daily life in each neighborhood.
This meeting is a valuable opportunity where 7 to 10 residents from various groups such as housewives, heads of merchant associations, daycare parents, club resident groups, and representatives of apartment complexes attend and discuss current issues around a round table set up in the mayor's office.
Prior to the meeting, the mayor personally visited sites with local issues to check the implementation status and conveyed improvement points to relevant departments. As a result, among about 280 various resident proposals last year, 55 cases received immediate on-site responses, and 53 cases have been resolved to date.
Most local issues are chronic and difficult to resolve. A representative case is the conflict among residents caused by noise complaints due to outdoor activities of daycare children using the Sindang 2nd Village Yard.
In response, Mayor Kim Gil-seong stated, "We will identify close neighbor residents and attempt dialogue, provide on-site guidance during children's outdoor activities, and strongly respond by filing complaints against residents who obstruct children from using the space," presenting a concrete plan to resolve difficult resident conflicts through legal and administrative measures.
Additionally, in response to residents' requests for support of cultural spaces suitable for gallery exhibitions, the 'Art Breeze' performance hall and gallery space located in Myeongdong, a complex cultural space, were introduced. It was also explained in detail that the installation of 'Smart Shelters' proposed by residents has been completed at seven locations including Yaksu-dong and Dasan-dong since December last year.
Heads of each department also attended to share the implementation status of local issues and assist in residents' understanding and persuasion.
This meeting, which began the new year with precious communication time with residents of each neighborhood, deeply signifies the intention to listen to residents' voices and properly reflect them in district administration, just like Jung-gu's new policy brand message, "Always Your Reliable Ally, Jung-gu."
